We collect personally identifiable information that you provide to us when completing forms on our website, uploading documents, discussing/interviewing for a potential job we are recruiting, or sending the information to us by e-mail, text, or other message service.

In general, you can browse our website, consume most of our content and learn about and our firm without providing any personal identifiable information about yourself.

We also automatically collect certain information when you visit our website such as the type of device, operating system, the browser you are using, and your IP address, and which web pages you visit, in order to provide better usability and personalized experience. The types of information we collect:

Heller Search collects personally identifiable information that you provide to us as a website visitor, job seeker, client and prospective client. This information is collected when you post a comment on our blog, upload your résumé, sign up to receive our e-newsletter or e-books, respond to a survey, request a sales proposal, or otherwise contact us, including by e-mail.

We may also collect personal information from you directly during telephone or in person conversations and job interviews. We may append to your personal information data about you that you have chosen to make available for viewing by recruiters on job boards or social media websites, such as LinkedIn.

The type of personal information we may collect includes:

  • contact information, such as your name, employer name, postal address, email address, and telephone numbers;

  • résumé or C.V. information, such as employment history, educational background, language proficiency, security clearance information, and other work-related skills, awards and honors, professional certifications, personal interests and activities, your qualifications or goals regarding future employment opportunities, including desired compensation, work locations and benefits;

  • work authorization status;

  • information you provide as a job candidate about others you would like us to contact as professional references;

  • information that you provide about others you would like us to contact as potential job candidates (referral);

  • Information we obtain about you from third-party partners (such as background check providers), or a professional reference provider.

 

Sensitive Personal Information

To protect your privacy, Heller Search aims to minimize the amount of Sensitive Personal Information we collect or process. In certain, infrequent circumstances, we may process such information to lawfully provide a service to our clients, or where we are required or permitted to do so by law. This may include information about your racial/ethnic origin, gender, medical history, disabilities, criminal offenses or convictions. If required by applicable data protection laws, we will obtain your express consent to our collection and use of your sensitive personal information.

 

How We Use Your Personal Information

Heller Search will use your personal information only to effectively provide executive search services to our clients, match job seekers with client job opportunities, and operate basic business functions.

More specifically, we may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Considering you as a job candidate for role(s) we are recruiting on behalf of a client, if you are a job seeker;

  • Entering into a contract with your organization for executive search services, and performing the services, if you are a hiring organization;

  • Gauging the number of users and usage of the web site for the purposes of planning capacity, and creating anonymized, aggregated statistics and reports about our web site activity and performance;

  • Providing information on our services, sales proposals, and publications you have requested, such as e-books;

  • Responding to your on-line inquiries or information requests;

  • Sending you e-mail communications containing information about roles we are recruiting, insights about IT leadership, career advice and newsletters. You can opt-out of our e-mail communications at any time (unsubscribe);

  • For our business purposes, such as sales and marketing, accounting, data analysis, audits, fraud monitoring and prevention, developing new products, services and offerings, enhancing, improving or modifying our web site, services, and operating and expanding our business activities;

Sharing Your Personal Information with Third Parties

Heller Search will never sell, rent, or lease your personal information to an external entity.

Heller Search may share personal information about you, on a need-to-know basis, with the following types of third parties, and under the following circumstances:

  • Potential employers – One of our core values at Heller Search is the protection of candidate privacy. If you have indicated to us that you are a job seeker, with your consent, we will share your personal information (such as résumé/CV, career history, and job qualifications) with clients for whom we are performing executive search services. Note that we will ONLY share this information after we have discussed the role and the employer with you and confirmed your interest. 

  • Under certain circumstance, to facilitate your placement in a role, we may also need to disclose your personal information to a service provider or agent acting on our behalf, or our clients’ behalf.

  • Compliance with laws – We may disclose personal information to a third party where we are legally required to do so in order to respond to or comply with applicable laws, regulations, subpoenas, court orders, legal process, or government requests.

  • Vendors, consultants, and other service providers – From time to time Heller Search uses third party vendors, consultants, and other service providers to assist us in areas such as accounting, marketing, data analytics, skills assessments, and drug and background screening. It may be necessary for us to provide these third parties with access to your personal information, which we will do only on a need-to-know basis.

  • With your consent – We may disclose your personal information for other purposes with your explicit consent. 

 

Children's Privacy

Heller Search’s web site is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that data from our systems. 

 

Data storage and retention

Your personal information is stored on devices and in databases controlled by Heller Search located in the U.S., and in databases on the servers of the cloud-based database management services that Heller Search engages including, but not limited to, Hubspot, SalesForce, and Clockwork.

We will retain your personal information for the length of time needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. To dispose of personal data, we may anonymize it, delete it or take other appropriate steps. Data may persist in copies made for backup and business continuity purposes for additional time.

The Heller Search website uses services such as Google Analytics and "cookies" to help us personalize your online experience and for analytics purposes.
