The Heller Report: Boards appoint CTTOs

Among this month’s highlights: Albertsons Companies, the food and drug retailer, named Brian Rice, the executive vice president and global CIO at McDonald’s, to its board of directors; consumer goods maker Kimberly-Clark hired Francesco Tinto, the former chief digital officer at Advantage Solutions, as its new Chief Information and Global Business Services Officer; the University of Pennsylvania elevated its interim vice president and CIO Joshua Beeman to become CIO; and Legacy Food Group, a holding company for regional foodservice distributors, tapped Jim Connolly, the former vice president of IT at LBB Specialties, as its new CIO.

In the second article in a series guiding IT leaders to find a role that matches both your interests and abilities, Heller CEO Martha Heller articulates how to know and communicate your strengths as a candidate. The steps include focusing on two or three areas of professional strength; communicate with interested people about them (on LinkedIn and elsewhere); and share your expertise to build a following.

Aboard NASA’s April 1 launch of Artemis II – the first spacecraft with humans aboard to orbit the Moon since 1972 – is a set of USB-sized, temperature-controlled containers housing lab-grown tissue samples “designed to mimic parts of the crew’s bodies, particularly bone marrow, a key component of the immune system,” Mashable reported. The results will be personal to each astronaut. “After the mission, scientists will analyze how gene activity changed within individual cells, comparing flight samples with copies on Earth,” the website noted. 

Heller was recently retained by CSP to recruit a Director, IT Infrastructure. CSP specializes in the development and production of advanced composite components – including carbon and glass fiber – for the global automotive and transportation industries.
