AI has a tendency to amplify the state of your data. Chaos breeds chaos, and clarity brings vision — and potentially ROI.

Jim Chilton has a name for what clarity looks like: digital accuracy. He argues that companies must first do the difficult work of understanding how data works in their business before they can take advantage of AI.

"Leaders assume that their teams are aligned because they use the same words, even though those words mean different things in different corners of the organization," he writes in his new book, Enterprise Coherence in the Age of AI. "AI forces accuracy because it needs clarity about which signals matter."

An online research repository is working to stop the posting of work that relies too much on large-language models. ArXiv (pronounced “archive”) “has become a source of data on trends in scientific research,” TechCrunch reported. At the same time, some authors are letting AI do all the work. “If a submission contains incontrovertible evidence that the authors did not check the results of LLM generation, this means we can’t trust anything in the paper,” wrote Thomas Dietterich, chair of arXiv’s computer science division. Violators will be banned from the site for a year.
