Technology leadership titles are telling an interesting story this month: in addition to CIO appointments, we are seeing titles that are longer, more specific, and increasingly focused on strategic portfolios rather than functional IT oversight.

Consider the range: Whataburger appointed Rohit Kapoor as chief digital and technology transformation officer. A.O. Smith tapped Chris Howe as chief digital information officer. Cooper Standard elevated Soma Venkat from CIT officer to chief information technology and AI officer, explicitly adding AI to the title.

These aren't just cosmetic changes. They reflect how technology leadership has evolved from managing IT to driving digital transformation, AI integration, and business model innovation. But they also signal—to boards, investors, and customers—that the executive committee is evolving as well.

Congratulations to all of November's new tech leaders!
